Seaplane Pilot Training - Aquatic Invasive Species

ATTENTION - QUAGGA MUSSLES DISCOVERED IN SNAKE RIVER Sept 19, 2023. Yes, as we welcome 2024, marking our 6th year, we are now facing a new challenge. It is now more important than ever to follow our protocol and bring awareness to all waterflyers.

The Department of Fish and Wildlife approved the training on this website to meet the qualifications necessary for you to inspect and decontaminate your own seaplane! The Certificate you obtain here is recognized by Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana enforcement officers. You must also follow any procedures that may be listed on the State Requirements page on this site.

IF YOUR FLOATS LOOK LIKE THIS YOU ARE A THREAT TO OUR PRIVILEGE TO CONTINUE TO OPERATE SEAPLANES and if you are caught by enforcement officers, there are fines, penalties, and in some cases, they can impound and/or confiscate your aircraft.

BTW- We are the ONLY user group to have a self-inspection program, AND the only user group to have a logo designed for our use by the FWS!!

Qualification Requirements:

1: Watch the training video

2: Take the test (only accessible after the video)

3: Print your certificate – carry it with you or keep it on display in your aircraft.

4: Keep a log of waters visited within the last 30 days and include a record of cleaning and/or decontamination.

5: If you’re flying in WA State a WDFW Permit is Required each year. Please check each state you’ll be flying in to see if permits, stickers or registration may be required.
